Policy Context
When this poll was conducted in July 2024, there was no specific law for immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally as children to become U.S. citizens. Since 2001, multiple Congresses have tried to pass such a law, the DREAM Act, but it has failed each time. Based on this, the individuals in question are often called “Dreamers.”
