Policy Context
When this poll was conducted in late January 2026, President Trump had floated the possibility of the U.S. taking over Greenland by force. Greenland is a territory of Denmark, a NATO member. As a result, Trump’s threat called into question the U.S. commitment to NATO’s joint-defense pact, not just with regard to Greenland but in general.
