Policy Context
When this poll was conducted in May 2024, corporations could not make direct contributions to federal candidates, parties, or PACs (political action committees) that contribute to candidates. However, per the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision of 2014, corporations could contribute unlimited amounts to “super PACs” that independently advocate for a candidate or party, such as in advertisements, without the involvement of that campaign or party. So this poll result can be understood as opposition to Citizens United-enabled corporate spending.
