Policy Context
When this poll was conducted in May 2024, laws for paid sick leave were set by the states, not the federal government. At the time 15 states and Washington, DC, required employers to provide paid sick leave. President Biden had repeatedly proposed a nation-wide requirement for paid sick leave. At the time of the poll, Biden’s proposals had not been realized in legislation.
